13-14 November 2007: 7th Steering Committee Meeting Noordwijkerhout (NL)

Consortium launches Hipermoulding software

During the final European meeting of 14 November 2007 in Noordwijkerhout (NL) the consortium members have launched the HIPERMOULDING software for thermal management in injection moulds. The project finishes at the end of November 2007. The project has been very successful. Not only because of the launch of the software, but also because of the results that this module realises in real life cases: The presented validation cases all show an impressive reduction of cycle times.

Three years of research, software development and feedback from SMEs have passed and with a good result: The HIPERMOULDING software is developed and ready for use. At the final European event all the consortium members have received the final version of the HIPERMOULDING module. The national SMEs that contributed to the research, will receive a copy at the local finalisation of the project.

19 -20 June 2007: 6th Steering Committee Meeting Harzé (BE)

With a good mood the HIPERMOULDING consortium members started the 6th Steering Committee and Technical Committee Meeting. There also is enough reason for this positive feeling as the HIPERMOULDING project is running well. Main focus is now on the finalisation of the technical work packages, so all deliverables such as the training modules and HIPERMOULDING software can be finalised. CRIF/Agoria hosted the meeting on 19th and 20th June 2007.

The consortium members from the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain and Belgium all came to Ličge and Harzé (Belgium) for the Steering Committee and Technical Committee Meeting.

Only some months to go and then the HIPERMOULDING project is finished. The consortium members then have realised since December 2004 innovative research for placing cooling channels in injection moulding moulds more intelligently around the product form. Conformal cooling itself is not new, but in order to use it effectively a knowledge-based software system for mould makers and injection moulders has been developed. And this is something brand new.

12 - 13 December 2006: 5th Steering Committee Meeting Wroclaw (PL)
Wroclaw in Poland hosted the project partners of HIPERMOULDING on 12 and 13 December 2006. They met for the 5th Steering Committee and Technical Committee Meeting. HIPERMOULDING has entered now its final year of the project.

November 2007 the EU-project will be finished: HIPERMOULDING ultimately supplies software that indicates whether it is useful to make inserts for a specific product with a rapid manufacturing technique. The project is good on track, but still a lot of work has to be executed for a successful finalisation. During the SC & TC Meeting in Wroclaw the research done was presented and a valuable discussion took place about the work to be done for the coming period.

Intelligent

Within the HIPERMOULDING project the researchers are investigating whether the cooling channels can be placed more intelligently around the product form. If this is possible, then the companies can cool more efficiently and eject the product earlier, which will result in a shorter cycle time. Moreover, improvement of the product quality is important. With injection moulding the product may warp or deform if the product cools down unevenly. Therefore if the moulded product cools down evenly all over, you can control the deformation. In addition to reducing cycle time the HIPERMOULDING consortium is also investigating whether the participants can improve the form stability of the product.
